Kerem Yücel

Kerem Yücel is an architect based in Istanbul. After his undergraduate studies in Turkey, he earned a Master's degree at the University of Buenos Aires, specialising in large-scale infrastructure and the way architecture shapes urban change. His thesis looked at highways and megastructures as architectural elements within the fabric of the city.

In Buenos Aires he worked with Alonso & Crippa on Edificio Educación del Futuro, which won first prize in an international competition with new typologies for flexible, sustainable learning spaces.

In 2020 he joined Tillotson Design Associates in New York, working on lighting for mid- to large-scale projects. That time shaped how he thinks about light as a material: something that sets the atmosphere and changes how a space is perceived.

Back in Istanbul, his first independent commission was Kargalı House, a glass volume floating over a forest hilltop that is a family retreat, a production space and a source of income at once. In 2022 he joined MAS Architecture, working on residential projects and on the İzmir University of Economics Güzelbahçe Campus with MİMLAB, which won first prize in a national competition.

Today he leads KEY Design & Construction Studio, offering concept development, 3D visualization, interior architecture and construction consultation. His work is guided by adaptability, sensitivity to context and design that starts from the people who will use it.
