Kargalı House
A glass house floating over a remote forest hilltop: a home, a retreat and a working film set at once.
The house stands alone on a hilltop with views of up to 50 km in every direction and no neighbouring access. The architecture is deliberately light: a transparent volume with a glass floor that seems to float above the ground, keeping its footprint on the forest as small as possible.
Inside are two master bedrooms, a full kitchen and a winter garden beside the pool that is usable all year, along with flexible rooms that can change use as needed. A separate children's pavilion sits lower down the slope, and the land around the house is set aside for agriculture and growing food.
The house was also designed to pay its way. It works as a set for advertising and film productions, so it is a small creative business for the family as well as a home.
